Tattered Slippers Collection Blog Tour Day 2 – Wrought of Silver and Ravens Book Review

What are the Tattered Slippers?

First off, what exactly is the Tattered Slippers Collection? The Tattered Slippers are six retellings of The Twelve Dancing Princesses by six different authors, each one fantastic and magical. It includes The Dancing Princess by Kendra E. Ardnek, Wrought of Silver and Ravens by E. J. Kitchens, Poison’s Dance by Tricia Mingerink, A Time of Mourning and Dancing by Abigail Falanga, The Dark Ring’s Curse by Wyn Estelle Owens, and The Midnight Show by Sarah Pennington.

It’s a great collection and you don’t want to miss any of them! You can follow the blog tour here.

My Review:

What if the twelve dancing princesses were enchantresses, forced to dance with dragons?

From page one, I was absolutely in love with Wrought of Silver and Ravens! Athdar, a foreign young man with a hidden past, ends up rescuing the prince of Giliosthay, the kingdom where his kind are outlawed. Because of his service, he ends up part of the Silver Guard, where he becomes tied up in a curse on Prince Xanner and Princess Thea.

Athdar is a loveable character, with a somewhat awkward personality and a handful of lion adorable lion cubs. Thea is a fierce and loyal sister, who wants nothing more than to discover how to break the curse on her family. I grew to love both characters and cheered them on the whole way.

Mystery and intrigue fill the plot, just enough to keep me reading. I loved to also see the worldbuilding. It felt both natural and balanced.

Overall, Wrought of Silver and Ravens is a magical and wonderful book I could read again and again!

About the Book:

Of Magic Made Book #1

The rarest magic is the most dangerous.

Athdar Owain is a hunted wanderer, one determined to keep his secrets and the treasure he carries safe at all costs. When he rescues the Kingdom of Giliosthay’s prince from raiders, he’s rewarded by being forced into the king’s elite Silver Guard. While this gives Athdar a temporary home and some protection from those hunting him, it also makes him responsible for the young prince, who still bears curses from the raiders, and seven enchantress princesses with curses as mysterious and dangerous as their brother’s.

Princess Thea of Giliosthay is a Realm Walker. Betrayed by a trusted guard, her rare gift of enchantment is used to curse her brother and trap herself and her six sisters into a nightly dance with dragons in a secret Realm. The Realm’s prince has the ability to take and twist her magic for his own purposes, and Thea fears what those might be. For when one dances with a prince, a kingdom might be at stake. Athdar alone can save them, but to trust enchanters it to risk exposure. And Athdar isn’t sure where his loyalties lie. Wrought of Silver and Ravens is a clean adventure-romance retelling of The Twelve Dancing Princesses set in The Magic Collectors story world.
